I really enjoyed working on the original constellation series that focused on animals living in Iowa. I've had inquires asking if I am going to continue the series, or requesting specific animals so I've decided to accept some commissions. I've collected all the details about my process and pricing so you can easily look it over.
How it works
First, please familiarize yourself with my constellation series. This commission is to create a painting in that style with an animal of your choice.
Second, read over this article to help you decide if commissioning a painting is right for you. Don’t hesitate to message me with any additional questions.

Pricing
5”x7” paintings will be $85
8”x10” paintings will be $130
If you wish to add an additional animal to your painting it will be $20/ animal up to 3 animals. (more would probably look crowded in the available sizes.)
I will include a complimentary white mat with your painting, so it’s protected and ready to frame.
5”x7” paintings will be matted to 8”x10”
8x10” paintings will be matted to size 11”x14”
If you are interested in a different colored mat we can discuss additional matting options.
Timeline and Process
First email me to request a commissioned painting and tell me what you have in mind. Animal, size, any specific color requests for the stars? I will message you back so we can go over the details and make sure we are on the same page.
Once we’re agreed, I’ll send an invoice for half of the commission price.
Once I’ve received it, I will begin the pre-sketches. I will create three sketches of your animal, each in a different pose and share them with you. If you already have a pose in mind please share this with me and I will only create sketches of your desired pose.
After you’ve reviewed the pre-sketches I will create a more detailed sketch. I will again share this with you and make sure it aligns with your vision.
Painting! This is the fun part. I’ll begin the painting. I create the sky first and then paint the animal into it. I’ll show you a half way picture and then share the complete painting. At this time if there are any minor tweaks to make, let me know. If you want to purchase any additional prints of my work please let me know at this point so I can include them with your painting for no additional shipping.
Next, I will send an invoice for the second half of the commission. Once it’s received I will mat the painting and mail it to you.
The entire project should take between 2 and 3 weeks. It varies a little depending on what size you choose and how long communication between the steps takes.
Details
These Constellation paintings are created with acrylic paint and white ink. They will be done on coldpress watercolor paper. Each painting will have a white border that extends beyond the image for easier framing and matting. The painted image will be the full 5”x7” or 8”x10” size.
I will include a complimentary white mat with your painting, so it’s protected and ready to frame.
5”x7” paintings will be matted to 8”x10” and 8x10” paintings will be matted to size 11”x14” If you are interested in a different colored mat we can discuss additional matting options.
I retain the original copyrights to each painting and the rights to reproduce prints.
Invoices will be sent with paypal or venmo.
Shipping; Domestic shipping for U.S. will be $3.50 for priority mail. Please ask for a quote for international shipping
All paintings will be signed along the back and titled with your choice of title.
