The Mosslet- Original painting

Moss is the forerunner of the forest. It gathers. It reclaims. It carpets. Beneath its emerald leaves, roots begin the process of renewal, decay. A cycle as old as dreaming.

It’s no wonder we are drawn to moss. Have you ever gone to inspect an old stump or pile of mossy rocks and heard the scurrying of tiny feet, or seen a glimpse of darting green? It was probably a mosslet.

Mosslets are shy creatures, although they live in large family groups. They nest in fallen logs and brush piles. Young mosslets are often shades of spring green, while older ones are tannish and carry moss flowers upon their backs. Wherever they go moss follows.  They live in a place called the scraggle wood.
