"I thought the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed, nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths among the branches of the perfect trees.

Seelie Song~Let not yourself be an instrument played by many greedy hands.
This painting is inspired by my thoughts on faerie music. Those wild compelling melodies that require you to dance, to grow, to change in maybe strange ways. Many folktales tell of the enchanting beauty of faerie song, and the dangers.
This painting was done on a cradle wood panel. I really love how you can see the wood grain. Media used includes: collaged book pages, acrylic paint, tissue paper, and snake skin.

Softly NovaThis painting is inspired by nova, the beautiful light given off by a dying star. I find it compelling that such stars shine the brightest before they fade. This metaphor is extended to the figure, who's own light is beginning to rival that of the stars around her. | Stepping SidewaysThis moment in the woods, I walk as though enchanted. Lead by forest murmurs, and tiny prodding hands, I lose the path behind me. For calling just beyond, an ash tree's heart is beating, and silver leaves are growing, and what I thought were fireflies is dancing fairy light. Acrylic on paper. Once We WereSeries: Days Like a Passing Shadow. 11"x14" acrylic on illustration board. | Petal Pulling TimeFor this piece I’ve returned to the setting of Iowa’s rural prairie and landscape. As you may know, prairie restoration is a subject near to my heart. But why was it destroyed in the first place?
In this piece I address a few ideas. A main element is the idea of petal pulling.
